SMJ is going paperless

With the ease of Internet access, demand for hard copies of the Singapore Medical Journal (SMJ) has decreased significantly over the years. Coupled with escalating costs and ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, the SMJ Editorial Board, in consultation with the SMA Council, has made the decision to stop hard copy printing and mailing from 1 January 2023. The journal and its monthly continuing medical education quizzes remain accessible online. SMA Members can continue to read and download all SMJ articles at https://journals.lww.com/SMJ. For enquiries, please email smj@sma.org.sg.

Retention periods of medical records amendments

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has amended the National Guidelines for retention periods of medical records in July 2022.

Please refer to Annex B of the original document from MOH for the detailed breakdown of the "before and after" changes, including the legal requirements and rationale for amendments. The document can be found at http://bit.ly/3VCbKZG.

Should you require any further information or clarification, please email MOH at elis@moh.gov.sg.
