SMA meeting with MPS
On 24 August 2023, SMA Council members met with Dr Mohamed Faruqi Uzair bin Mohamed Sidek, a medico-legal consultant for the Medical Protection Society (MPS). Dr Uzair also contributed as a speaker at the SMA seminar "Going into Private Practice: Taking the Plunge" on 26 August 2023.
SMA remains in regular communication with its three preferred partners for medical indemnity: Income Insurance, Marsh and MPS.
LKCMedicine Freshmen Orientation
SMA recently participated in the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) Freshmen Orientation on 8 August 2023. SMA Council member Dr Wong Tien Hua highlighted SMA's advocacy efforts, specifically those in relation to medical education and doctors in training, and encouraged the LKCMedicine medical students to join SMA as Members.
We appreciate the opportunity to engage medical students of the three local medical schools at regular intervals to share the ongoing relevance of SMA, the work we have done and the benefits of SMA Membership. Similarly, SMA also engages several overseas Singaporean medical student organisations. The annual subscription of S$21.60 for student Membership is currently waived. Student Membership is open to all medical students studying at a local university and Singaporeans studying at an overseas university.
