Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023

Kevin Loy, Ngiam Xin Ying

As 2022 comes to a close, SMA News invited doctors to illustrate their reflections and thoughts for the past year and wishes in the year ahead. Here, we carry two submissions: one reflecting on the rollercoaster ride of the year 2022 and the other sharing wishes our paediatrician colleagues have for the new year.

We hope that these will prompt our readers to also take the time to pen or illustrate your thoughts for the year ahead, and we welcome your submissions at news@sma.org.sg!

Kevin Loy has been fighting COVID-19 on the frontline faithfully as a family physician since the start of the epidemic. He thinks he has not worked so hard since his housemanship days. His hair has turned a lot whiter as a result. He dreams of taking a long holiday to the destination of his choice in the near future.

Ngiam Xin Ying Ngiam is a paediatrician in private practice, mother of three children, volunteer with CaringSG and Tzu Chi, and amateur cartoonist. She thanks all her fellow paediatricians who she polled in the making of this comic strip, and hopes our wishes will come true!
