On 22 August 2025, SMA and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) co-hosted the Jade Appreciation Night at the Marina Bay Financial Centre. Approximately 80 SMA Members and their guests gathered for an evening of cultural discovery, insightful talks and engaging conversations. The event began with a sumptuous buffet featuring an array of dishes, including fresh Caesar salad, aromatic Peranakan blue-pea rice, tender honey duo mustard chicken and decadent chocolate cake, all complemented by free-flowing ice lemon tea and champagne.
The evening's programme commenced with a presentation on "Legacy Retirement Planning" by the SCB Wealth team, providing practical guidance on wealth preservation, succession planning and preparation for the future. A simple mathematics quiz during this segment added a fun touch to the evening, with Bluetooth speakers as prizes. The discussion was both informative and interactive, allowing Members to gain valuable insights into financial planning.
Next, a jade expert from Dejade captivated the audience with insights into the history, symbolism and artistry of jade. Those present were fascinated by stories of jade's cultural significance and the craftsmanship behind each piece. The presentation provided a rare opportunity for attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the world of jade, leaving many better educated and inspired.
The programme concluded with a thought-provoking talk on wealth solutions, which explored the purpose and significance of wealth in today's world and its lasting impact. The discussion provided valuable insights into how wealth can be leveraged to achieve long-term goals and a secured future.
After the programme, attendees mingled among fellow medical professionals while browsing Dejade's exclusive showcase of exquisite jade pieces and rare gemstones like rubies, diamonds and pearls.
