PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The SMA Clinic Assistant Place and Train Programme, which targets individuals who are currently unemployed and eager to return to the workforce, seeks to support the manpower needs of the healthcare industry. It consists of 3 components:
- Job placement opportunities are provided to work in a clinics/healthcare institutions through face-to-face and online avenues, where candidates will be matched with potential employers for discussion and selection for employment.
- A 4-day Clinic Assistant Introductory Skills Course is tailored to give the participants a comprehensive and hands-on experience to the work of a clinic assistant in a clinic setting.
- The 3-week Clinic Assistant Introductory Skills On-the-Job Training is designed to monitor the clinic assistant's quality of work, proper use of tools, job knowledge, safety consciousness and interpersonal skills.
TRAINING FEES
Standard rate: S$800.00 (subject to prevailing GST)
CANDIDATE CRITERIA
• Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents only
• Currently unemployed or back-to-work individuals
• Minimum education level of Secondary 3 and above
• Conversant in the English Language
• Possess basic computer skills
• Positive attitude to learn in a new environment
• Passion in serving people in the healthcare sector
• Understanding common clinic processes
• Comfortable with handling patients’ sample (e.g. urine, stool and blood)
• Willing to work rotating shift duties including weekends and public holidays

• Appreciating common healthcare schemes and clinic systems
• Understanding healthcare law and ethics
• Performing ECG
• Managing health screening
• Measuring and recording vital signs
• Collecting and despatching biological specimens
• Understanding basic skills in good drug dispensing practices
• Managing drug processing and packing prescriptions
• Understanding receptionist duties and phone techniques
• Implementing effective communication skills
• Managing conflict management and service recovery
• Understanding common medical procedures and conditions
