Men in Medicine: Illustrated Perspectives

In the medical profession, it is not uncommon for doctors to have to attend to patients of the opposite sex in the daily line of work. This can sometimes bring challenges, regardless of the practitioner's sex. Having read the perspective shared by Audrey Ng, a female medical student,SMA News invites two male doctors to also share their point of view in such situations, albeit in a more tongue-in-cheek manner.

Male doctors need to be aware of potential pitfalls when examining female patients in the clinical setting. Professional decorum must be maintained at all times. A bag-and-mask may be useful in certain situations.

Fears and worries may arise in a doctor's mind when attending to patients of the opposite sex, but let the thoughts not run wild, for as long as we remain professional, we will be fine.
