SMA-Ministry of Health webinar on COVID-19 Vaccine

SMA and the Ministry of Health (MOH) co-organised a webinar for doctors on 19 December 2020 to update the profession on Singapore’s latest plans for the COVID-19 vaccine. About 1,000 participants attended the webinar, posing many thoughtful questions that elicited detailed responses from the panellists. The MOH is preparing a Frequently Asked Questions document on COVID-19 vaccination, which will be disseminated to doctors soon.

Realignment framework for businesses impacted by COVID-19

Small businesses and individuals who have been significantly impacted by COVID-19 and need to review their business models and contractual obligations will benefit from the Re-Align Framework, which commenced on 15 January 2021.

SMJ social media updates and podcasts

The Singapore Medical Journal (SMJ) recently established a presence on social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, to enhance the reach of the works of scholarship in the journal. A new podcast project has also been launched, in which authors are invited to share insights on their published articles in a bite-sized format. So far, five episodes have been produced. The podcasts are available at https://www.smj.org.sg/podcasts. We encourage Members to follow the SMJ on social media, and to stay abreast of the latest research.

SMA staff retreat

An online retreat session was organised for the SMA secretariat on 12 December 2020. Staff present reviewed the accomplishments over the past three years, and discussed and set goals for the coming year. The secretariat’s focus remains on serving SMA Members. Several Council members also joined the retreat to provide additional feedback and to get to know the staff better.

 


Ng Chew Lip is an ENT consultant in public service. After a day of doctoring and cajoling his two princesses at home to finish their food, his idea of relaxation is watching a drama serial with his lovely wife and occasionally throwing some paint on a canvas.
