Consultant / Senior Consultant Psychiatrist

You will utilise your expertise in psychiatry within MINDEF/SAF to provide specialised clinical services that will support the optimal deployment and holistic care of our service personnel.

These services include:

• Psychiatric consultations
• Drawing up management plans
• Providing specialist inputs for medical grading
• Collaborating with treatment providers within and outside the SAF, etc

Besides the psychiatric needs of Pre-Enlistees and Full-Time National Servicemen, you will also look after the mental wellbeing of Military Regulars and Defence Executive Officers who have unique considerations due to their roles and responsibilities. You will also provide contextualised training and education in psychiatry, conduct operationally-relevant research, and provide important consultancy that will help shape MINDEF/SAF’s mental health policy. Should you have specific sub-specialty expertise, you may have the chance to contribute at a deeper level as the Subject Matter Expert within the organisation.

You should be a Consultant-grade Psychiatrist who preferably have had prior experience with managing the psychiatric needs of SAF servicemen.

Good clinical acumen, keen interest in continual improvement, and strong willingness to work within a team, would be strengths that will help you in this role. Appointment will be commensurate with your experience.
