SMJ On-Line: a collaborative partnership between the Singapore
Medical Association and the Medical Informatics Programme of the National
University of Singapore.
TWO IMPORTANT MILESTONES IN MEDICAL WEB DEVELOPMENT
On 5 March 1998, both the Singapore Medical Journal
(SMJ) On-Line and Health ONE will be launched. This event marks two important
milestones in the history of medical web development in Singapore. Health
ONE has taken six months to develop while the SMJ On-Line has taken three
months of intensive work to be made available electronically.
SMJ On-Line marks the beginning of a collaborative partnership between
the Singapore Medical Association and the Medical Informatics Programme
of the National University of Singapore. The collaborative partnership
will be formalised by a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding
at the launch.
Cooperation
The areas of cooperation are specified in Article 1 of the Memorandum.
They are:

O Publish and update electronically the following services under
the SMA Web Site:

the Health ONE project.
Behind the scene
It has taken a whole team of very dynamic and enthusiastic crew to
produce Health ONE, billed as the world’s first multilingual health information
resource. The members of the Health One team can be identified by a simple
mouse click on the Health ONE home page. It takes an equally dynamic and
enterprising team to produce the SMA Website and the SMJ and SMA News On-line.
The team members comprise Ms Diane Bun (also Health ONE manager), Ms Emily
Lim, Ms Debbie Ng, Mr James Tay, Mr Lee Yoong Yao with Associate Professor
Goh Lee Gan and K C Lun as advisors.
