INTRODUCING
Overview
Health ONE is a strategic joint project between the National University
of Singapore Medical Informatics Programme and the National Computer Board
Healthcare Cluster to provide an integrated health information resource
on Singapore ONE.
It is the world’s first multilingual health information resource that
uses the latest Internet technology to disseminate reliable, up-to-date
health information from local, regional and international health resources
to the public as well as health professionals in English, Chinese and Malay.
Health ONE Missions
O Support government effort to produce a knowledge-intensive
society through the delivery of health information resources on Singapore
ONE;
O Promote healthy life-style and disease prevention through the dissemination
of health information to the public;
O Counsel patients and their families by facilitating contact with
patient support groups in Singapore and abroad;
O Provide a health resource to support the continuing medical education
of health professionals through distance learning;
O Encourage professional interaction among health professionals;
O Position Singapore as a content-rich, health information hub of the
region.

Health Care Matters
Hospital Services and Professional Registers
Hospital Services gives a clickable map of Singapore showing
the location of hospitals with websites. A simple mouse click on a selected
hospital will provide information which includes services available, list
of medical staff and visiting hours.
Professional Registers links users to a service provided by the
Ministry of Health that accepts queries to databases on all doctors, nurses,
dentists and pharmacists listed on their respective registers in Singapore
Health Matters
This service contains information and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
on common health ailments and diseases, listed alphabetically for easy
reference.
Video Clips
Currently, video clips are available on Asthma and Diabetes mellitus.
They are intended to educate the public on the prevention and management
of these two common ailments in Singapore.
Drug Databases
Ever wondered what a drug prescribed by your doctor does for you? Health
ONE can connect you to various drug databases that provide information
on prescription drugs as well as those available over the counter.
Others
This includes a glossary containing medical, statistical and clinical
research terminology to help the public to better understand terms used
by health professionals so as to help them understand ailments or conditions
better.

Continuing Medical Education
Virtual Patient, Cybermedical School and Internal Medical Centre
Virtual Patient
Modelled on a real case, the first of two virtual patients is intended
to teach medical students on the management of a patient through clinical
problem solving. A second virtual patient, under development, is based
on the “intelligent pet” tamagotchi concept. Modelled on an insulin-dependent
diabetic patient, it aims to educate users on illness management and the
importance of medication compliance.
Cybermedical School
Designed as a educational supplement for medical students, it contains
study guides, clinical guidelines and case notes to help students better
understand the different medical disciplines as well as to put their knowledge
into practice.
Internal Medicine Centre
Internal Medicine Centre aims to resolve the problem of overwhelming
medical information on the net by providing an efficient, fast but yet
comprehensive interface to locate sites about internal medicine on the
Internet
Health Databases
CancerNet, MediStat, MedLine, Venom and Toxin Centre
These popular health databases provide easy access to the archives and
latest development in the medical world.
Medical Image Bank
Visible Human Project, HistoNet Brain Atlas, Cyberlmage
Users have access to image banks containing rich repositories of high
quality images for reference.
On-line Libraries
