LAUNCHED CME WEBSITE
Introduction
The SMC-CME Website was launched in 22 January 2000. All fully and conditionally
registered medical practitioners are granted an online CME account free
of charge for accessing the system and are eligible for CME points. A
password would have been assigned to individual practitioners by now to
access the system via Internet. The website address is http://www.smc-cme.gov.sg/.
Certification
SMC CME certification is awarded to doctors who have attained 25 points
or more at the end of the CME year. With the new internet system, doctors
can now submit your own CME credit claims, browse the CME Calendar for
events and conferences, monitor and generate your personal CME participation
report.
Features
of SMC-CME On-Line
- Online Calendar of Local CME Events. This enables you to search
for SMC-accredited CME activities by speciality or keyword each month
and plan ahead for CME activities in your busy schedule.
- CME Activity Mailing List. You can select any number of specialities
that interest you and receive CME activity updates of these specialities
in your email.
- Online CME Record of Participation. This allows you to submit
records of CME participation electronically, at your convenience. Doctors
with no internet access can approach one of the three professional bodies
- Academy of Medicine, College of Family Physicians, Singapore Medical
Association - for assistance in recording their CME participation electronically
when the system is launched.
- Personal CME Report. You will be able to print and keep a personal
report of your CME participation for your own record.
in Procedure
Doctors can submit their own password and username at the Medical Practitioner
Login page. Remember to keep your password confidential. At the Medical
Practitioner’s Main Menu, select Submit Category IC, II or/and III Claim.
Remember to keep the hard copies of attendance records for overseas conferences
until the SMC CME certification is awarded. This is for SMC audit purpose.
Please refer to your handbook for a detailed guide on how to utilise the

Doctors
with no internet access
Doctors with no internet access can approach the CME Coordinators which
are the Academy of Medicine Singapore (AM), College of Family Physicians
Singapore (CFPS) and SMA. Doctors who are members of either AM or CFPS
can approach their respective professional bodies to submit their claims
electronically. Please contact AM (Tel: 223-8968) and CFPS (Tel: 223-0606)
for details. The rest of doctors with no internet access and who are not
members of AM and CFPS can approach SMA. This service is free to all SMA
members but non-members will be levied a nominal annual administrative
fee of $50.
