Job Description / Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the overall management of patients under the supervision of senior doctors and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.  Your major duties and responsibilities will be as below:

  • Contribute to the provision of holistic patient care, including taking a comprehensive history, performing a thorough physical examination, formulating differential diagnoses, investigations and treatment plan
  • To review all new cases as soon as possible and inform the Consultant in-charge of all difficult and complex cases
  • To participate in all daily ward rounds and ensure complete and accurate documentation of clinical information that is relevant to patient care
  • To be responsible for completing the Inpatient Discharge Summary upon discharge from hospital and replying to the referring doctors’ letters
  • To be responsible for explaining procedures and operations to patients and next-of-kin as well as obtaining consents for such cases
  • To perform procedures under supervision
  • To update patient’s next-of-kin and to brief them on the patient’s condition
  • To sign death certificates as and when requested
  • To write medical reports when required. Urgent reports should be prepared within a week and reports for non-urgent requests within 2 weeks
  • To participate in scheduled department CME activities
  • To meet the clinical and service quality standards as determined by the Hospital
  • Perform any other duties as directed by Head of Department or the Chairman Medical Board of the hospital
  • Be ethical and maintain a good standard of care, conduct and behavior in accordance with Singapore Medical Council/ Singapore Dental Council’s Ethical Code and Ethical Guidelines

 

Requirements

  • Possess a basic medical degree or postgraduate qualification that is registrable with the Singapore Medical Council. Those with registrable postgraduate qualification in Medicine e.g. MRCP will be preferred
  • Eligible for Conditional or Full registration with the Singapore Medical Council
  • Registered as a medical doctor in the country of conferment of medical qualification and last place(s) of practice
  • Possess at least 3 years of post housemanship working experience as a medical officer (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline
  • Be in active clinical practice in the past 3 years in the relevant specialty
  • Provide evidence of English language proficiency and meet the score specified by the Singapore Medical Council if the basic medical qualification is not conducted in the English Language
